Bec Kirby from Blackpool, UK is a multi-disciplinary artist specialising in textiles and painting and the founder of Soosumsee. With a background in Interior Design, Bec worked in the industry for nine years at design studios in both Amsterdam and Manchester before moving on to develop her artistic practice. Working from a fifth-floor studio in a retired cotton mill on the outskirts of Manchester, Bec’s work responds directly to the relationship between space, object and emotion, combined with a strong ethos of animal welfare and sustainability. Working solely with dead-stock yarns and ethically sourced wool fleece, her works represent a conscious approach to craftsmanship.
